The Department of Systems and Engineering Management, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) provides educational expertise (through the master’s level) in economics, engineering management, environmental engineering, finance, industrial hygiene, information resource management, leadership, and management.
The major departmental effort is devoted to teaching and research in support of programs leading to the Masters degree. Six thesis based master’s level degree programs are offered. These programs include: Cost Analysis, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering and Science, Industrial Hygiene, Information Resource Management and Research and Development Management.
Two certificate programs are also offered. The first is associated with the Information Resource Management program. Students complete 12 hours of coursework and are awarded the NSA 4012 Certification for Information Assurance; a distance learning version of this certificate program is also being developed and the first offering is projected to go online in the summer of 2008. The second is associated with the Research and Development Management program. Students complete 18-hours of coursework and are awarded the Certificate in Operations Technology.
