The Division of Occupational and Environmental Health is one of the graduate divisions within the GSPH. It offer Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Environmental Health and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Toxicology.


The Division of OEH offers coursework in the following disciplines: air pollution, water quality, toxicology, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, ergonomics, food sanitation, solid and hazardous waste management, biomarkers and exposure assessment, and occupational medicine.


Occupational and Environmental Health graduates are in high demand and have secured employment with a variety of federal, state, and local health and environmental regulatory agencies, private industry, consulting firms, and insurance companies. In recent years our students have been hired by the U.S. and California Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the State and Regional Water Quality Control Boards, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the American Lung Association, as well as numerous manufacturing companies (petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and biotechnology), environmental consulting firms, and a variety of local and regional health agencies.


Our graduates have also been awarded American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellowships in both Policy and Mass Media, CDC Fellowships in Public Health, and a number have completed Ph.D. degrees and have pursued academic careers.
