Job Description

This position will lead implementation and continuous improvement of corporate health and safety compliance and management systems including compliance auditing, product stewardship process development, formal management system (e.g. OHSAS 18001/VPP) implementation and regulatory monitoring. In this capacity, this position will play a key role in providing leadership and technical support to Cargill's businesses and functions, identifying embedded talent, and representing the company at professional, industry and customer gatherings. The position is global in scope, and reports to the Corporate Health and Safety Manager. Responsibilities 25% Leading compliance auditing programs, which includes applying risk-based criteria to identify locations to be audited, conducting audits, qualifying auditors and assuring continuous process improvements. 20% Facilitate development and maintenance of formal health and safety management processes (Develop and implement processes, tools and training that promote safety management system deployment; defining appropriate goals and metrics to assess management system progress; alignment of safety and environmental management systems and enabling external certification (e.g. OSHAS 18001 and VPP)). 20% Facilitates the development and implementation of formal product stewardship strategy (Promoting development of processes and tools to assist business units in conducting product risk characterization of existing or new products and services; collection and dissemination of accurate and up-to-date product safety information to employees, customers, distributors, contract manufacturers and other affected parties). 20% Manages compliance systems, including incident investigation and reporting systems, best practice sharing, technical support and regulatory monitoring. 15% Facilitates development, deployment and continuous improvement of training needed to assure compliance and achieve corporate goals and objectives, which presently includes safety awareness training, qualified auditor and construction safety training.
Required 4 year degree (preferably BS in Science (e.g. Health and Safety/Toxicology) or engineering) 10 years health and safety and/or product stewardship experience including managing health and safety at a manufacturing facility Experience with implementing safety management systems (VPP, OHSAS 18001), behavior safety programs and product stewardship. Demonstrated leadership skills, communication, influencing and collaboration skills. Ability to lead and manage multiple matters/projects simultaneously Ability to travel up to 35% Want Certified Safety Professional/Certified Industrial Hygienist "Power user" of critical IT systems that support EHS work including Excel spreadsheets, Sharepoint, Access databases and SQL databases.
