Job Description
Serves as subject matter expert in responding to concerns expressed by employees and the community. Anticipates and identifies potential chemical, physical, and biological hazards present during job site visits and initiates immediate corrective actions to eliminate such hazards. Evaluates potential exposures that may be encountered by LCMC employees, reports findings and recommends appropriate corrective actions to management for implementation. Also responsible for ensuring those corrective actions are consistently implemented as deemed appropriate. Supervises the Industrial Hygiene automated data management system in order to integrate and analyze exposure measurements with employee data and occupational exposure records. Creates written reports with results from exposure assessments and recommends control actions to management. Manages and performs hazardous assessment reviews for new chemicals in order to meet LCMC Hazardous Communications requirements. Oversees product stewardship responsibilities, including MSDS development req for products and intermediate streams produced at LCMC. Identifies LCMC employees for inclusion in regulatory medical surveillance programs. Ensures total compliance with all OSHA Health and Safety regulations or Company driven standards and guidelines. Participates and represents LCMC interests in periodic conference calls and meetings with other industrial hygienists from locations outside of the LCMC. B.S. of Science in Industrial Hygiene, or other health related degree with a minimum of 10 yrs exp. Certified Industrial Hygienist or have the necessary qualifications to obtain this designation. Accredited Asbestos Supervisor Certification or able to obtain Louisiana Certification. Accredited Asbestos Inspector Certification or able to obtain Louisiana Certification. Radiation Safety Officer Certification or able to obtain Louisiana Certification.
