As the Safety Manager, you will lead and champion all aspects of the safety and industrial hygiene function including implementation of new and existing corporate standards, industry best practices.
You will manage the audit processes to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
You will be responsible for the daily management and engagement of the line organization involving incident investigations, hazard control and safe work practices.
You will have a focus on short and long term safety program planning, including annual safety plans and injury reduction goals.
Safety Program Management includes safety and health policy/procedure administration, safety program audits and inspections, review and application of state and federal regulations and development of safety training to support prevention initiatives.
You will make periodic presentations to employee groups (both large and small) as well as to Senior Management including the Board of Directors.
Act as liaison to Union safety representatives, co-chair joint company/union safety meetings and lead joint union management prevention activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Safety Management, Safety Engineering or Equivalent. OR Associate's Degree complimented by CSP designation.
7 years of leadership experience in safety management with a record of progressive responsibilities and proven accomplishments.
2 years experience in a people management role
Proven history of value added safety programs in a manufacturing setting
Fundamental working knowledge and understanding of State and Federal regulations pertaining to OSHA, NFPA, NEC and ANSI
Demonstrated success in communicating Safety goals and methodologies to all levels of employees.
The position requires significant time on the shop floor engaging line management and department personnel.
In addition to the Minimum Requirements, preference will be given to candidates who posses:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or evidence of working toward certification.
A solid track record of successfully managing safety processes within a unionized heavy industry, manufacturing environment.
Ideal candidate will have experience with process safety management, behavioral based safety and lean manufacturing tools.
