Job Description
As part of a major upgrade of the Whiting Refinery, BP is seeking a Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSS&E) Mgr to be part of the project leadership team located at the Whiting Refinery. The project has recently received full sanction and entered into the detailed engineering and construction phase of the project. The project is in need of a Whiting based HSSE manager to work with the Project Leadership team and Whiting Refinery HSSE team and drive HSSE on site. The HSSE Mgr role is a high visibility assignment reporting directly to the Project Director/Single Point Accountability (SPA), this individual will oversee the delivery of all aspects of health, personnel safety, process safety, security, and environmental performance for the project. With the project ramping up construction activities, a strong focus in construction safety is a requirement for the job.
The role of Manager, HSS&E is responsible for planning, managing, and directing the project’s efforts relative to health, safety (personal and process), security and environmental compliance, policies and programs. In addition to the HSSE Manager roles, the Position is accountable to assure delivery of the Corporations Integrity Management Standard and RIsk Management practices.
• Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
• 10+ years progressively responsible experience in HSS&E in Refining / Petrochemical Industry with a primary focus on construction safety • Strong functional knowledge and experience around process safety.
• Experience dealing with external agencies and stakeholders (OSHA, EPA, Community). • Ability to engage, enroll and partner with employees and teams to advance HSS&E efforts. • A successful record of establishing performance measures for key business processes. • Effective leadership and influencing skills. • Experience with major organizational change efforts preferred. • Experience with major capital projects preferred. • Experience with represented employees preferred.
