Job Description
Mechanical contractor providing piping, plumbing, machinery moving, and maintenance services for commercial and industrial customers looking for a Safety Manager to promote and maintain safe, accident-free and healthy work environments in company offices, shop facilities and individual job sites. Candidate must show ability/experience in maintaining compliance will all regulatory agencies. Must manage and coordinate all company safety and wellness programs and formulate safety policies/procedures to be followed by company and employee personnel. Will inspect and tour worksite facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures. Develop and schedule training programs. Must supervise all safety personnel in office and on individual jobsites. Must coordinate all customer safety requirements and represent the company in meetings on safety.
Educational and experience requirements include: Four year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and related experience. At least five years construction and/or industrial safety experience. Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures essential. Good interpersonal and communication skills required. Qualified CPR and advanced First Aid. Familiar with medical terminology.
Will be exposed to all conditions and hazards of construction sites in performing inspections and ensuring compliance. Need dexterity and ability to carry and lift bulky and heavy items and material. Requires use of all sensory and physical abilities. Responsibilities require serious committed practitioner capable of gaining confidence and support of peers, management and employees.
