Job Description
Eaton Corporation located in Spencer, Iowa has an opening for an EHS Manager.
This position provides environmental, health, safety, and security leadership to the client’s (e.g., plant, region, business) operations. Success is defined through the attainment and continual improvement of metrics that are defined by the client. Specific areas of accountability include but may not be limited to:
a.Facilitates process and provides technical and administrative leadership to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and MESH requirements.
b.Chooses fiscally and socially responsible methods and processes of managing natural resources and waste.
c.Continuously identifies, assesses, and reduces/eliminates EHS risk (including security).
d.Continuously deploys methods of reducing the environmental footprint.
e.Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental authorities on matters of mutual concern including voluntary certification, maintenance of environmental permits, submission of required reports, and maintenance of data.
f.Directs and/or supports development and deployment of EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 registration, VPP, Industria Limpia, etc.) as appropriate.
g.Complies with Eaton’s ethics policy and keeps management informed of issues associated with regulatory compliance.
h.Provides for timely EHS training of employees.
i.Investigates incidents (including near misses, releases, and losses) and accidents to determine root causes and prepares/directs corrective action plans.
j.Integrates and supports Corporate, Group, and Regional EHS initiatives designed to drive best practices across Eaton.
k.Initiates opportunities to improve environmental conditions in the community as well as fostering employee wellness and off-the-job safety.
l.Plans to deal with emergency situations that could adversely impact the environment, employees, or the community.
m.Directs development, maintenance, and achievement of strategic initiatives designed to produce verifiable world-class performance.
n.Encourages employee involvement in EHS activities.
o.Primary communicator of EHS messages to employees and management.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or Management, Environmental Science.
Experience:
Seven to ten years experience in manufacturing engineering or human resources.
Training:
Federal and state laws and OSHA and EPA regulations.

Computer Skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Professional certification preferred (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or country equivalent).
