Job Description
J. M. Huber, one of the leading producers of specialty engineered ingredients, has an immediate opening for a Sr. Process/Project Engineer in Etowah, TN. The Engineer will provide Process and Project Engineering services to Manufacturing and Technology groups in order to achieve the objectives and expectations of customers, both internal and external.

1. Uses engineering skills to comprehend and analyze problems then implement solutions to improve EH&S, quality and productivity. In a self-driven manner will develop complex assignments/projects to this end. On occasion expectation will be to develop and execute projects.

2. Utilizes Six Sigma methodologies to improve existing products/processes with the goal of satisfying ever increasing customer expectations, both internal and external. Routinely practices Root Cause Failure Analysis in a team derived approach to determine true solutions to plant problems.

3. Interfaces with operators and packers to establish solutions to problems that affect overall plant performance. Establishing close working relation with these work groups is critical to providing complete customer satisfaction.

4. Incorporates new experimental, developmental and commercial products/processes into the Production process environment until quality and productivity meet expectations.

5. Plans, designs and implements plant projects for OP&B and the 5-year planning process.

6. Interfaces with teams and EH&S to ensure a continuing safe work place for meeting expectations from both a behavioral and compliance standpoint. Participates in training, inspections and evaluation of current and future safety and environmental processes.

7. Provides support for Plant Environmental compliance and efforts, which support continuous improvement.

8. Maintains quality of manufacturing and engineering practices that sustains ISO 9002 certification, good manufacturing practices and other quality efforts.

9. Provides direction and project leadership with management review.

10 Provide project engineering services required to prepare and submit Capital Appropriations Requests. This includes project scopes, schedules, estimates and financial justifications.

11. Monitor, track and report project critical success factors as required to satisfy project goals and management requests.

12. Select best-suited process equipment for applications by meeting with vendors, running trials and staying current on new technology

13. Work with procurement to identify, select and manage outside contractors suited to perform the required work. Ensure quality work is completed in a timely and safe manner by supervising contract workforce and performing housekeeping and safety inspections.

Requirements

Minimum of a B.S. in an appropriate Engineering discipline (P.E., MBA or MS Engineering preferred) • 8-10 years of relevant experience applying sound engineering principles in a manufacturing environment. • Strong self directed decision maker capable of establishing solutions and fully implementing them. • Working knowledge of economics to perform financial viability of new or improved products or processes. • Familiar with Six Sigma methodologies and able to apply them to safe work practices. Capable of detailed Root Cause Failure Analysis. • Fully trained and experienced in the development and technological aspects of Chemicals processes and systems. • Demonstrated ability to communicate, plan, organize and document project requirements. Proven track record of success participating in or managing plant projects • Knowledge of plant processing and equipment, familiar with multi engineering disciplines and ability to use spreadsheets, scheduling and word processing software. • Ability to practice good management skills required to direct and supervise contractors.
