Job Description

This position will be responsible for the leadership and management of all facility health and safety (H&S) issues including but not limited to:

Safety education/training Create a Zero Injury Culture vision and a plan to achieve that vision Active member of the site's leadership to lead site efforts Development of direct reports for future leadership roles Conduct routine plant safety inspections/audits Ensure hazards identified are corrected in a timely manner 100% execution of safe work permits Active participation in behavior based safety Contractor safety coordination Data analysis to identify injury trends and create aggressive risk reduction plans to eliminate injuries and property damage Set the direction for overall facility H&S strategic and tactical plans Emergency team coordination Timely and accurate reporting of all required H&S metrics Ensure the facility strictly adheres to business unit (BU) H&S policies and programs Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate regulations and policies Partner with facility personnel to innovatively create and sustain an "injury free safety culture". Assist with the creation and implementation of BU H&S business plans, objectives, and special projects. Become a BU program "champion" for at least one H&S program. Actively participate on all BU calls and meetings. Assist other facilities and/or Safety Managers in the BU as needed.

Travel: ~10-15%

Required:

BS or Masters degree in Occupational Safety and Health/related technical area with a minimum of five years of safety experience or 10 years of safety leadership/industrial manufacturing experience. Demonstrated working knowledge of all OSHA 1910 General Industry Standards and OSHA 1926 Construction Standards. Ability to apply standards in a practical manner. Desired Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Successfully completed both the 30 hour OSHA General Industry and 30 hour OSHA Construction Standards courses within the past five years. Additional safety management/technical certifications through accredited organizations such as the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) or National Safety Councils Extensive experience implementing safety requirements, processes, and injury prevention techniques with demonstrated results Previous direct reports/supervisory experience Ability to effectively lead a team by "influence" with emphasis on positive reinforcement Proven experience with behavior based safety processes and tools Contractor safety experience Demonstrated ability effectively plan, organize, and control multiple reports, projects, and tasks Working knowledge (e.g. qualified auditor) of Cargill Corporate H&S audit protocol Awareness and interest in the OSHA VPP process Experience in measuring safety performance with a focus on "leading indicators" Cargill, founded in 1865, is an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services.
