The purpose of this position is to improve and sustain Health & Safety (H&S) performance at the Wahpeton, ND corn milling facility through focused action in safety process optimization. The person in this position will provide frequent written and verbal communication to the facility Safety Manager and Facility Manager on the status of H&S initiatives and programs. Responsibilities include the coordination and completion of safety projects, direct involvement with the corporate H&S auditing process, conducting behavior based safety observations, facility safety inspections, developing and presenting safety training, lead and coordinate site emergency response efforts, and complete miscellaneous assignments as needed.
Principal Accountabilities:
25% Coordination and implementation of key safety projects and initiatives 25% Organizing and completing assignments associated with Corporate H&S audit 25% Lead site emergency response activities 10% Actively assist in leading behavior based safety efforts with the BBS facilitator 10% Develop and/or supply training for facility and/or departments 05% Facilitate and/or support the safety incident investigation process.
Required:
Bachelor's or Masters degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related technical degree, or 2 year associates degree plus at least 3 years of active H&S participation (e.g. BBS, emergency response teams, program champion, etc). Completion of the OSHA 30 hour General Industry course Practical working knowledge with all OSHA and other relevant regulations Ability to create, manage, and implement identified H&S programs/projects Demonstrated ability to effectively "Coach" and "influence" others Proven team player as demonstrated by actions Able and willing to fully implement all business unit policies and procedures Ability to manage all activities associated with emergency response activities Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively under pressure Highly self motivated, pursuit of continuous learning, and ability to manage change Strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate safety and environmental risks Demonstrated ability to "execute"
Desired:
