Job Description
Cargill Animal Nutrition provides customized animal productivity solutions to commercial producers across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. We are seeking a Health and Safety Manager to lead the development, deployment and continuous improvement of safety and health management systems for the Cargill Animal Nutrition Business Unit that will enable the business to achieve its goal of developing a Complete Safety Culture. Champion culture of proactivity, accountability, stakeholder engagement and sustainability in the business's Safety and Health program. The Health and Safety Manager will provide support leadership to CAN management, our employees and the communities/customers we serve through education and pro-active initiatives to reduce risk associated with Health and Safety. This position will be part of the Plant Operations team and will help to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements and initiatives for all of CAN's business. Requirements: 40%: Leadership, develop, implement and champion proactive safety management programs in order to achieve and maintain Business Unit goal of developing a Complete Safety Culture. As Safety and Health Manager for the business unit, drive awareness and accountability for safety performance and systems through all levels of the organization. Assure compliance with internal and external health and safety requirements, manage risk, and leverage opportunities. Lead work on sustainability efforts, which include developing collaborative relationships with regulators, customers, communities, and employees. Actively participate with Cargill Corporate EHS team in goal setting, implementing initiatives, and ensuring BU compliance and teamwork with all internal Cargill policy and procedures. 25%: Continuous Improvement. Maintain awareness of developing H&S issues generally, in our industry, in the communities in which we operate, and our workplaces to anticipate leadership and improvement efforts necessary to achieve H&S compliance and a Complete Safety Culture. Facilitate adoption of best practices through benchmarking internally and externally, developing website and using BU communication tools innovatively. Plan, develop, track and conduct safety training sessions, inspections and audits. Coordinate the activities of Safety Committee development, BBS (Behavioral Based Safety), supervisor training, peer-to-peer coaching and contractor safety management. Follow-up and assure completion of action items and gap closure. 15%: Communication. Communicate effectively with CAN team members in the development and implementation of EHS programs. Influence BU Leaders to promote systems, performance and achievement of goals. Champion engagement in safety. Facilitate the transfer of knowledge in safety leading practices across the BU. Lead the efforts of creating a Complete Safety Culture. Communicate to all CAN team members our goals, standards and metrics used to measure progress. 10% People Development: Develop H&S leadership and awareness skills at all levels and roles of the organization. Develop appropriate and effective H&S training for hourly, supervisory, and management employees to enhance H&S professionalism in CAN. Provide technical and regulatory compliance expertise and support. Develop strength in CAN by mentoring, coaching and training safety auditors. 10% Reporting and Measuring: Produce regular summary reports and analysis on Health and Safety activities, performance measurement and results. Plan, prepare and present annual EHS plans, goals, objectives, and results. Contribute to corporate work place health and safety goal setting and coordinating development and implementation of measures and communications. Prepare and organize H&S files for corporate and division audits.

Experience: Minimum 5 years experience required in a health and safety organization a required. In a world class organization preferred. Environmental experience a want. Plant Operations leadership experience required. International experience (may only include extensive travel) a want. Education: Four-year business or operations degree required. Occupational Health and Safety degree high want.
