Job Description
This is a rotational position to the North Slope of Alaska.

The HSE Environmental Advisor will provide primary environmental compliance support to field and facility personnel. The scope of activities include but are not limited to: solid and hazardous waste handling and minimization; air and water permit compliance; land use; spill prevention, clean-up, and reporting; wildlife interactions; and training of personnel in these subjects. The HSE Environmental Advisor will interface with regulatory agency personnel, and liaison between BP Operations and regulatory agency personnel.

The HSE Environmental Advisor will also provide support in the development and implementation of the Performance Unit’s Environmental Management System. In addition, the HSE Environmental Advisor will conduct formal and informal audits, participate in investigations, and conduct inspections of field, facilities, and project work in progress.

Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science or Five or more years of environmental experience in the Upstream oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish a good rapport with field personnel, as well as the ability to thoroughly document compliance activity.
- The willingness and ability to travel in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
- Self-directed and self-motivated team player.
- Proven strength in planning and organizing.
- Ability to influence and manage change.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel).
- Ability to speak effectively in front of groups.
- Ability to actively pursue an understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively manage available resources and prioritize work on a continual basis.
- Experience demonstrating an ability to build productive and credible relationships, particularly within BU teams and with regulatory agencies.
