Job Description
Environmental Engineer

Job Summary

· Provide technical (including engineering) advice and assistance to the Evadale mill using technical knowledge and experience to solve a variety of problems and assure/monitor facility adherence to MeadWestvaco (MWV) policy and applicable regulatory requirements

Responsibilities will focus on air program permitting and compliance

· Work to ensure facility activities protect human health and the environment and provide for sustainable compliance

· Work together effectively with others as a team member ensuring that assigned tasks are performed with company safety principles in mind

· Interface with regulatory agencies on behalf of the Company or business unit

Job Responsibilities

· Prepare regulatory submittals & notifications or coordinate their completion on behalf of the facility

· Assist in review of proposed engineering/maintenance projects to understand and plan for potential SH&E implications

· Develop and assist in preparation of permit application forms for proposed engineering/maintenance projects

· Support incident response and management/reporting

· Participate in audits and/or conduct self-assessments

· Develop, manage, monitor, and conduct environmental training

· Assist operations with troubleshooting environmental issues and support facility shutdowns

· Lead and support development of management system programs

· Cost effectively manage any use of environmental consulting firms

· Manage and provide data for sustainability reports

· Ensure appropriate records are kept and maintained

· Conduct assigned routine checks and monitoring

· Assist other MWV facilities as part of the SH&E SBS organization

Job Requirements

· BS degree in engineering or science discipline

· 3 yrs or more of environmental experience in an industrial setting

· Experience in air permitting and compliance programs is preferred

· Strong written and oral communication skills Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment

· Travel: less than 20%.
