Functional Analyst II
GENERAL SUMMARY: Analyzes user needs and performs research and functional analysis on a variety of projects; works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Analyzes user needs to determine functional requirements for a wide variety of projects; 2. Performs functional allocations to identify tasks and their inter-relationships; 3. Researches, identifies, and assists in the formulation of recommendations about resources required for task execution and completion; 4. Assists with the development of new systems or updates to existing systems to meet client needs; 5. Identifies and recommends emergent relevant technologies that may result in improvements to current processes; 6. Writes and updates project documentation including system procedures and training materials; 7. Conducts functional testing of various systems; 8. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies and subject areas; 9. Participates in special projects as required. 10. Performing GIS Development; 11. Develop, maintain, and update ArcIMS applications according to specifications from government customer 12. Perform GIS Analysis for a wide array of projects 13. Perform GPS data collection and GPS data correction and conversion 14. Perform GIS Data development and maintenance of an ArcSDE database that is structured using the SDSFIE data model Providing Cartographic Support 15. Prepare GIS cartographic products that are attractive and illustrative 16. Prepare graphic images for briefs and presentations for a range of GIS users (expert to novice)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: BA/BS in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Engineering, or similar science with an emphasis in GIS science. Three to five years professional GIS experience with a minimum of one year ArcIMS development. Familiarity with GIS support for Facilities, Utilities, and Environmental Management.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience with the following software is required: - ESRI ArcGIS/IMS 9.x on SDE/SQL - Microsoft Office Suite - VBA, Java, and/or other GIS programming language Familiarity with XHTML and SDSFIE are a plus.
