Holcim (US) has an immediate opening for a results-oriented, experienced Project Construction Safety Manager to be located at our greenfield plant in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
In 1999, Holcim (US) Inc. announced plans to build a state-of-the art, environmentally-responsible cement plant in Ste. Genevieve County, MO. Today, after years of environmental review and enhancements to the plant design, the project is a reality. The plant design is one of the most sophisticated in the cement industry today and incorporates the latest in cement production and environmental control technologies.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors degree in Safety or Engineering and minimum of five years large project construction safety leadership experience. Candidate should have proven leadership abilities and excellent communication, decision-making and problem solving skills with an orientation towards customer service. This critical team member will have strong construction safety technical field knowledge is required, formal OSHA construction safety training is desired; knowledge of OSHA construction standards; experience working with regulatory agencies is desired (MSHA experience a plus) and experience with safety management systems and behavior based safety concepts is also desired.
This Project Construction Safety Manager, with a drive for the highest standards of ethical behavior, will:
* Provide safety oversight of General Contractors and their subcontractors to ensure compliance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations, Holcim safety and health standards, and contractual agreements.
* Monitor and audit contractor training programs to ensure compliance with Holcim and MSHA requirements.
* Provide safety leadership, expert guidance, and coaching to Holcim Ste. Genevieve Project Manager and staff to help them deliver their overall accountability for project safety performance.
* Assist General Contractors in developing programs and initiatives that provide a proactive and high-involvement approach to safety.
* Interface with MSHA inspectors during job site inspections and courtesy assistance visits, taking necessary action to assure compliance by Holcim and all contract companies.
* Visible member of Holcim Project Team, coaching, teaching, and mentoring Project Team employees on safety processes, requirements, and procedures.
* Audit construction safety systems, permits, procedures, and practices to ensure effectiveness, maintain compliance, identify potential exposures/hazards, and monitor correction of unsafe conditions.
* Provide subject matter expertise, developing practical solutions to resolve field safety issues and providing feedback to Holcim management, contractor management, and site personnel relating to safety problems and solutions.
* Participate in regularly scheduled contractor progress meetings and pre-planning meetings for safety critical activities.
* Prepare and maintain all necessary reports and records for both internal and external sources.
* Analyze contractor safety data and conduct risk assessments; develop and implement safety performance improvement plans as required.
* Actively participate in accident investigations with Site Safety Manager and GC Safety Management Team.
* Participate in the corporate safety network, leveraging expertise to other facilities and helping to develop corporate standards, best practices, and guidance for project / construction projects.
* Provide access control oversight to contractor management teams and ensure security of the construction site.
* Assist with the implementation of safety systems as the construction project becomes an operational facility, establishing the required safety infrastructure by setting and implementing procedures.
