Job Description

Environmental Engineer - Mason City, Iowa

Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, travel requirements)

· Provide applied leadership and technical expertise to environmental issues related to the Mason City cement manufacturing plant

· Complete air quality permitting, reviewing, system development, and Title V monitoring activities relative to plant-wide activities

· Function as an integral member of the ISO14001 implementation team and provide on-going support

· Assist with the implementation and maintenance of an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

· Provide training to plant personnel on key environmental issues, environmental requirements and compliance

· Interact with the plant personnel and company management to communicate environmental requirements, assist with data gathering and preparation, identify compliance issues, implement compliance requirements, and act as a technical resource

· Provide engineering solutions to environmental issues, including permitting, pollution prevention, environmental regulatory compliance, training, inspections, reporting, auditing, and contractor compliance

· Perform statistical analysis, prepare reports, maintain appropriate compliance records, and file required documents with various regulatory agencies within stated deadlines

· Assist with developing and participating on a community action committee

· Assist on plant-specific or company-specific environmental issues, as needed

Educational Criteria:

· Degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering or related technical field preferred Position Dimensions (i.e., communication skills, planning, teamwork, technical knowledge, leadership, initiative):

· Excellent verbal, written communication skills and presentation skills

· Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; able to gain commitment

· Proven technical/professional knowledge

· High initiative; able to work with minimal supervision

· Possess high level of integrity; adaptable to change

Other Related Experiences Required or Preferred:

· 2-4 years experience of closely related work experience with a focus on air issues (NSR, PSD, NSPS, Title V, MACT), solid waste management (RCRA) and CERCLA and Clean Water Act

· Experience in multi-media audits

· Experience with ISO 14001 Implementation and Maintenance

· Computer literacy in Microsoft applications required

· Knowledge of Iowa's state environmental rules and regulations desirable
