Job Description

The company is a subsidiary of Holcim Ltd, of Switzerland, one of the world's leading suppliers of cement, aggregates (gravel and sand), concrete and construction-related services.

Safety Manager - Clarksville, Missouri

Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, and travel requirements: ·Be visible in the plant, coaching, teaching, and mentoring

·Analyze employee and contractor safety data and conduct risk assessments; develop and implement a safety performance improvement plan Implement and maintain behavior based safety programs and a safety management system

·Develop/implement local and corporate tools, policies, and standards

· Responsible for leading a safety culture change

· Audit systems, procedures, and practices to ensure effectiveness; maintain compliance systems

· Conduct compliance related assessments and surveys (i.e. noise, dust, etc.)

· Lead the Clarksville Safety Committee

· Provide subject matter expertise; develop practical solutions to resolve safety issues

· Develop and deliver safety training material; ensure a tracking system is in place

· Interface with MSHA during plant inspections

· Prepare and maintain internal and external reports

· Lead and help others to lead root cause investigations; develop and help others to develop corrective actions; monitor the completion of corrective actions

· Ensure that the safety committee is active

· Manage workers' compensation claims and costs to completion, interface with comp carrier, healthcare professionals, and employee in return-to-work efforts; prioritize safety initiatives with regard to the work comp claims to reduce injury frequency, severity and lost time incidents

· Actively participate in the corporate safety network; leverage expertise to other facilities and help develop corporate standards, best practices, and guidance

· Responsible for plant security

· Travel is anticipated to be 15%

Educational Criteria:

· B.S. degree desired, safety or engineering preferred Position Dimensions (i.e., communication skills, planning, teamwork, technical knowledge, leadership, initiative): · Demonstrated ability to influence all levels of the organization

· Strong change management and project implementation skills

· Demonstrated problem solving skills

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to build consensus

· The desire to learn and teach

Other Related Experiences Required or Preferred:

· Experience with behavior based safety and safety management systems

· Working knowledge of basic industrial hygiene principles

· Experience working with regulatory agencies; MSHA experience a plus

· Experience with root cause / failure analysis methodology

· Process safety management a plus

· Computer literacy in Microsoft applications is required; experience with statistical analysis tools is a plus

· Previous leadership experience a plus

· Experience with an ISO or similarly certified facility is a plus

· Exposure to 6-Sigma a plus

· 3 - 5 years of formal industrial safety training and experience or Certified Safety Professional preferred
