Job Description
Responsibilities This position is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing forward-looking safety and emergency management strategies for Williams Canada assets including new assets under development. Position will be responsible for leading the ongoing implementation of an Environment, Health and Safety management system (CSIP), management of ongoing regulatory obligations, and development/implementation of new regulatory applications as required for the Canadian Growth Strategy
Requires ongoing consultation and communication with all levels of management, technical, and administrative staff to ensure Company EH&S goals are achieved. Requires networking within the industry to maintain knowledge of best practices and meeting with regulatory agencies to ensure accurate interpretation of legislation and positively affect change.
Main areas of responsibility include:
- Promotion and enforcement of safe work practices - Influence management to commit resources to ensure ongoing program integrity - Development of project specific safety programs - Managing third party consultants (i.e. Chief Inspector, industrial hygiene specialist, trainers, etc.) - Coordinate incident reporting and manage Incident Log - Maintain and report appropriate EHS statistics - Maintaintenance/update of the Canadian System Integrity Plan(CSIP) (part of the EHS Management System) including the following programs ABSA, ERP, RMP, Obligations Manual, MSDS's - Developing/maintaining CSIP training modules (as required) and coordinate training of staff per CSIP - Ensuring compliance with CSIP and regulatory obligations and ensure all regulatory reporting is accurate and provided as required - Staying abreast of changes in the regulatory industry - Identifying and creating awareness of those areas which meet expectations and recommend corrective strategies to improve areas or processes which do not - Identify and coordinate participation in relevant industry hearings - Consult with external - Networking with industry and regulatory agencies to influence afect change - Manage department G&A
Qualifications Preferred requirements include: - Bachelor degree in engineering, safety management, or related - 15 years of related experience preferred - Applicable technical training ¿ Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency/Crisis Management, Environmental Management, Auditing - Industry certification ¿ Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professional (BCRSP) - Must be action oriented with strong communication, leadership, and organization/planning skills - Requires independent judgement based upon wisdom gained from education and experience in a related capacity
Position will be filled at a level commiserate with experience
