Job Description
The Market Unit Safety Manager contributes to The Pepsi Bottling Group’s success through ensuring regulatory compliance, accident prevention, and after injury management. This person is responsible for leading the safety agenda throughout a specific territory by supporting the senior management team with integration of safety, prevention, workers’ compensation, and regulatory compliance into everyday work life. The Market Unit Safety Manager has responsibility to analyze accident data and develop and implement actionable safety solutions. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in safety and can clearly articulate, develop, and implement actionable plans.

Major Tasks, Key Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

  • Implement, execute, ensure compliance with The Pepsi Bottling Group safety polices and procedures
  • Track, forecast, and manage worker’s compensation costs in partnership with the regional WC & Disability Manager
  • Manage local safety budget
  • Lead the development and implementation of the safety annual operating plans and safety action plans for the market unit
  • Achieve annual targets for accident severity, accident frequency rates, and related cost reductions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and motor vehicle regulations
  • Develop, implement, execute, and manage strategies to prevent workplace injuries, property losses, and vehicle accidents
  • Demonstrate solid employee relations experience and interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Display strong problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader by influencing all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement in safety performance

    Basic Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Greater than five years of work experience in the health and safety discipline

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Safety management experience in a related industry, including consumer packaged goods, distribution/transportation, manufacturing, or grocery
  • Safety degree and/or related certification
