Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs engineering work in a specific environmental functional area or areas; works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned. Employee will serve as Environmental Division's National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) expert. He/she will review all requests for testing and training events to determine if the requirements of NEPA have been met for Dugway Proving Ground.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs engineering work concerned with a specific environmental functional area, which may include environmental affects and quality, natural resource recycle and recovery, and/or public heath.

2. Analyzes and documents functional environmental requirements.

3. Participates in the development of environmental systems, applications, and/or procedures.

4. Performs various tests or experiments requiring the use of nonstandard procedures and complex instrumentation, and documents results.

5. Conducts engineering studies to determine the most feasible corrective measures for various environmental deficiencies.

6. Recommends appropriate action to assure compliance with federal, state, and local legislation and regulations regarding environmental control.

7. Assists in the overall planning and installation of equipment revision relating to the environment.

8. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance as required.

9. Analyzes and selects information technology tools, systems, and equipment needed to meet functional requirements.

10. Prepares and presents briefings or system demonstrations.

11. Maintains a current knowledge of relevant technologies and environmental developments through research.

12. Participates in special projects as required.

Requires BS/BA degree.

Requires 2-5 years experience.

Dugway Proving Ground is located 80 miles from Salt Lake City, UT. it is the Nation's primary chemical and biological test facility. because of remote location the employees work Monday thru Thursday, ten hours per day. Government housing is available at very reasonalbe cost to contract employees if they so desire. Van pools are available for employees living in Salt Lake City and surrounding cities.
