Job Description
BASF Corporation, a process safety leader in the chemical industry, is seeking a process safety expert for our Agricultural Products facility in Hannibal, MO. The Hannibal plant utilizes sophisticated chemical manufacturing processes to produce products for crop protection and yield enhancement. The selected candidate will also support process safety needs at other assigned facilties throughout BASF, and participate on BASF's process safety expertise team. Leads, coordinates, implements, and supports Process Safety programs across multiple BASF chemical manufacturing sites and business groups referred to as a service Hub, with primary focus on the Hannibal, MO facility. Provides technical and regulatory expertise to ensure compliance, safe work places, and continuous improvement of Process Safety programs. Advises site management of compliance concerns. Leads/coordinates/participates in process hazard analyses of chemical processes for the BASF facility in Hannibal, MO and Beaumont, TX, and others as needed/assigned. Provides strategic direction on Process Safety issues pertaining to the EHS hub sites and businesses. Provides primary point of contact for all safety related issues (process safety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene) for assigned units at the Hannibal site, including incident investigation and reporting, compliance monitoring, and training on standardized tools and programs. Ensures commitments made in project reviews and elsewhere are tracked to completion. Ensures the appropriate level of EHS expertise is applied to capital project reviews. Interfaces with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance enforcement issues. Facilitates the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices with othe BASF sites as needed through a shared services organization. Works with other EHS experts on internal BASF work teams or task forces to develop and implement process safety tools and practices for use throughout BASF. Leads teams as assigned. Position will be filled at a grade commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
Qualifications
BS Engineering or Sciences. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Eight (8) years or more of demonstrated experience implementing safety programs in a manufacturing and laboratory environment Registration with a certification body (i.e., PE, CSP, CIH) is recommended. Strong working knowledge of Process Safety regulations and technology Good working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene regulations and technology Able to solve most complex problems and technical issues through work activities
