Job Description
Administers the stormwater/wastewater programs for the Refinery and ancillary facilities including all periodic monitoring and reporting. Responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC) and the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). Completes the Air Emissions Report (AER) and leads the newly developed Greenhouse Gas Program. Responsible for the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) and Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) programs. Manages the environmental review of the MSDS system and tracks all South Coast Air Quality Management District Rule 219 exemptions. Generates reports/records to support demonstration of compliance. Participate in weekly production team meetings as the Environmental Representative. Provides guidance and training to area production teams and management as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Assist in reviewing appropriation for expenditure (AFE) review and management of change (MOC) documents. Interacts and coordinates projects with agencies, consulting firms, and contractors. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of existing and proposed environmental regulations to ensure continued compliance. Responsible for leading all stormwater/wastewater inspections/audits by external agencies such as EPA or LACSD. Responsible for responding to any internal or external audit findings in SME area. Assists with other environmental special projects or tasks, as needed. Position involves rotational on-call environmental responsibilities. Bachelor of Science degree in related science required. Bachelor of Science in chemical, petroleum, or environmental engineering preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the petrochemical industry. Experience with wastewater permitting, environmental procedures, auditing, and regulatory compliance required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. High level of proficiency in word, excel, and access database required. Ability to perform error free work and provide technical support to ensure compliant operations required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk and hear; stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and may occasionally be required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
