Job Description
BP Alaska continues to be a foundation SPU contributing about 15% of EPC production and more than 20% of EPC cash returns. Alaska is further distinguished by a very large, but technically challenging, resource base including mature giant fields, satellite developments, a major long-term gas opportunity, large scale heavy oil potential, and world scale mid-stream assets. The new product streams of gas and heavy oil underpin a renaissance for the Alaska SPU and support a future for BP in Alaska that extends 50 years or more.

BP currently operates 13 fields on the North Slope and owns a significant interest in 6 other producing fields. BP Alaska produces nearly 300mboed net production with a resource base of some 5.7 bn boe.

An experienced safety professional is needed to fill an existing vacancy in the Anchorage Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) organization supporting BP Alaska’s operations and projects. This senior level position will be responsible for development and implementation Alaska-wide programs designed to achieve step-change improvement in safety performance. Additional responsibilities for this role include participation in incident investigations, hazard assessments and conducting regulatory required Health & Safety training. To successfully deliver these areas, extensive technical and regulatory expertise in industrial safety and fire protection areas is required. Effective influencing and coaching skills are also critical skills as the person in this position routinely advises a cross-section of the BP organization, from the Alaska Leadership Team to line operations staff.

Qualifications: Ten years of overall experience as a safety professional, including:
- A minimum of 5 years experience developing and maintaining external relationships. This includes liaison with state and federal regulatory agencies responsible for health, safety and fire protection/prevention.
- A minimum of 2 years experience developing/writing health and safety programs, policies and procedures.
- A minimum of 2 years experience analyzing health and safety data, reporting trends and providing consultation regarding corrective active measures.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or a Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification with clear track of working towards a CSP.
