Rio Tinto Minerals (RTM) is seeking a Safety Manager based in Boron, California. The position is located on-site at Boron Operations in the Safety department. This location offers a wide variety of places to have your home. Only two hours from Los Angeles, the beach and ski slopes, you can choose from big city convenience to country lifestyle. Responsibilities:*Responsible for leading the safety organization and charged with the health and safety policy implementation, workers compensation, risk assessment and compliance in the areas of lockout tagout, industrial hygiene, confined space entry, ergonomics, contractor safety management and related safety and health efforts.*Serve as the principal liaison for cross-company teams on health and safety issues.*Oversee and foster the sustainable safety culture change process.*Ensure performance metrics are adequately communicated and measured.*Interface routinely with various levels of organization.*Develop the safety leadership pipeline across the organization.*Work collaboratively with union and non-union employees to implement strategic safety initiatives.
Qualifications:*4 year relevant university degree required, masters degree preferred*10 years safety experience in mining or a heavy manufacturing environment*Knowledge and skills in all areas of safety and industrial hygiene management*Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA Rio Tinto's success depends on talented, motivated professionals.
