Job Description

 

Position:  Director, Corporate EHS
Location:  Milwaukee, WI

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will provide leadership and expertise in EHS matters company-wide, while developing and managing relevant programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  The selected individual will offer oversight to all facilities on environmental issues related to capital projects, production waste & emissions, facility audits and interactions with governmental agencies.  As a key member of the engineering department, the candidate will lead company-wide efforts to improve safety performance and training, while working to reduce worker injuries and associated costs. Candidates will also be expected to keep abreast of developments in the EHS field and any changes to laws and regulations that may impact the organization.

This position requires significant travel, up to 50% of the time, including international travel up to 25%.

Position Summary:

This position has the responsibility to assure that all Company facilities are in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental and health/safety laws and regulations using the most cost effective approach. This includes responsibility for all environmental permits; providing or overseeing all environmental engineering activities on projects; management of waste streams from production, returned product and research; management of all emissions and effluents; resolving issues involving violations, related fines and penalties; auditing of facilities for compliance; and periodic reporting to governmental agencies.  The incumbent both performs these duties and supervises other individuals who perform these duties.   The incumbent is also responsible for due diligence activities in the areas of environment, health and safety, and the company environmental audit activities.   In addition, the incumbent will coordinate company‑wide safety efforts leading to improved day to day safety performance, increased employee safety awareness, and ultimately, a reduced overall injury incident rate and reduced Workman's Compensation claims. This position will also be responsible for directing the preparation, maintenance and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals as well as keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that may impact the organization.

Experience:

Ten to fifteen years of environmental/safety regulatory experience directing programs in a manufacturing environment is required.  Registration as a Professional Engineer, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager or Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or other equally respected registration or certification is desirable.

Education: 

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene or Chemistry required.  Specialty training in hazardous materials management, emergency response, environmental compliance, safety management, and/or industrial hygiene is desirable. A Master’s degree and industry certification are desired as well.
