To ensure our continued success, we are seeking out an individual to fulfill the position of Product Steward. This position will be located at our Corporate Headquarters in Wichita, KS support our area of business in the Engineering Polymers and Nylon Polymers sector.
It is the expectation for this role that the individual places a strong focus on receiving the best results while pursuing INVISTA’s objective of maintaining 10,000% compliance. In addition, it is the expectation that this individual will continue to uphold INVISTA’s customer sought reputation of being a differentiated, value-adding supplier in terms of Product Stewardship.
The Engineering Polymers (EP) and Nylon Polymer (NP)Product Steward will focus on two primary responsibilities, those being; development, integration and execution of the EP/Nylon Product Stewardship program and providing guidance and support between the business line and INVISTA’s Product Safety Capability.
Primary responsibilities for the Engineering Polymers and Nylon Polymer Product Steward will include the following:
- Develop an annual Product Stewardship compliance plan focused on appropriate inputs such as; incident metrics, self-assessment results and trends, audit results, and other feedback to guide prioritization of key focus areas.
- Understands exposures and prioritizes work on a risk-adjusted basis.
- Develops and implements programs specific to business needs to maintain a high level of innovation and customer focus, including; processes, procedures and tools.
- Ensure global specifics processes are implemented regarding INVISTA’s Product Stewardship and Compliance Assurance standards.
- Integrate product compliance and risk management controls through each stage of the product development processes as well as on-going commercial product activities in coordination with various business capabilities, including; logistics, manufacturing/operations, sales and marketing, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), and Research and Development (R&D).
- Identify and provide opportunities for professional development to employees who may directly impact Product Stewardship processes and/or systems.
- Conduct self-assessments to review Product Stewardship processes, procedures and tools; utilizing the results to drive continuous improvements.
- Manage product safety related incidents, including leading root cause investigations.
- Provide continuous feedback to business line management regarding performance of the Product Stewardship program as well as key emerging concerns.
Providing guidance and support responsibilities include:
- Serves as the primary interface for customers on product related inquiries.
- Coordinate the Product Stewardship support between the business and the INVISTA Product Safety Capability to ensure efficient and focused use of resources to support business strategies and priorities.
- Participate in Product Compliance & Risk Characterization and Product Change Review processes and provide business specific information to support the review processes.
- Facilitate risk management decision making around the recommendation that come from the review processes and track risk management decisions to closure.
- Participate as a member of the Product Safety Emerging Issues Team representing EP and Nylon Polymers, including; assessing potential impact, recommending and developing advocacy and/or compliance strategies for emerging issues.
- Ability to be self-directed with strong organizational and interpersonal skills to work within a team environment.
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Toxicology, Chemistry, Science, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in Product Stewardship with chemical products.
- Experience with implementation of management systems and tool development.
- Experience with regulatory status and concepts of polymer chemistry.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a Product Stewardship related roles with chemical products.
- Experience with implementation of management systems and tool development within Product Stewardship.
- Experience working with databases and Sharepoint sites.
- Experience with MSDS and labels for chemicals and polymers.
- Experience with physical and chemical properties of products, including; toxicology terminologies and global chemical inventory regulations.
- Experience with compounded products and other engineered polymers.
- Experience working with cross functional teams to implement Product Stewardship processes.
- Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies, including the U.S. EPA.
- Experience interacting with customers, both internal and external, on Product Stewardship related inquiries.
- Experience with TSCA and OSHA Hazard Communication regulations.
