The Applied Aviation Sciences Department in the College of
Aviation offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Science at
Embry-Riddle's Daytona Beach campus.
The degree is based upon the needs of the market place. It
combines a solid core designed to meet the Aviation Accreditation Board
International (AABI) standards and the University’s General Education
requirements. With a complete offering of Safety Science courses through two
areas of concentration (AOCs), students can prepare to work in the aerospace
industry as well as in non-aerospace industry.
The Safety Science degree is designed for students
interested in obtaining a strong safety foundation. The goal of the degree is
to produce graduates who are skilled in providing safety expertise in a variety

produce professionals who are skilled in providing management expertise and who
can provide technical guidance in compliance issues involving FAA(Federal
Aviation Administration), EPA(Environmental Protection Agency),
OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Administration), DOT (Department of

Ours is the only program of its kind in the seven state
region in the south east of the United States that offers students the choice
of specializing in either aviation safety or occupational safety. The Safety
