The South Carolina Chapter, National Safety Council was organized in 1961. The Council began as a response to the growing concern to the number of people being killed and injured in traffic accidents in the Charleston area. In its early years, it was known as the Greater Charleston Safety Council and incorporated as a non-profit corporation. From the beginning, the Council has been a chartered Chapter of the National Safety Council.
As a chapter of the National Safety Council, headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina, we are a public training agency and offer safety training and accident prevention programs to businesses and individual in the community. We believe that most unintentional injuries and illnesses are preventable. To end that and in an effort to endeavor on solutions that will help modify behavior an in effort to reduce human pain and suffering. The Chapter currently has a membership base of over 600 businesses and organizations throughout South Carolina.
Our vision is to be regarded as the one-source for safety and health education and training for business and the community through the delivery of quality programs and instruction. Our purpose is to educate and influence people to prevent accidental injury and death and to making our world a safer place.
